REMINDER: Rules and Regulations

Trivia at Moynihan's is held every Wednesday night at Moynihan's Pub, starting at 9:45pm. There are four rounds, each worth 25 points, for a cumulative 100 points. Bonus points may be awarded at the judge's discretion, for any of a number of criteria. The winner each night receives a free pitcher of beer and a free plate of chicken, courtesy of Moynihan's. There is also a special "pitcher challenge" that requires each team to create a picture based off a random prompt given every night. Submissions are judged by creativity/effort not talent. The "pitcher challenge" does not affect the overall scores. The winner of the pitcher challenge gets a free pitcher of beer, but you cannot win both Trivia and the pitcher challenge. If the same group wins both, the pitcher challenge is awarded to whoever placed second. Each group may have no more than 6 members.

Each round consists of five questions: four regular questions, and a bonus question. The regular questions are assigned values of 2, 4, 6, and 8. Your score for each question will be weighted by how confident you are in each answer, adding up to a total of 20. The bonus question for each round comes in a list format, and you will be asked to provide several answers, worth a single point each. Each question is accompanied by a musical clue, giving you a hint to the answer with its title or artist. There is no musical clue for the pitcher question.

There are also League standings, and the winners at the end of the League get a special prize. The year is divided into Fall League, Spring League and Summer League. There are special prizes at the end of the League for the three highest-scoring teams of the season.

The scoring system is designed to benefit both teams that do well and teams that show up the most.  Teams get one point for showing up and then an additional point for every team they beat that week.  Ex:

5 teams show up, the team who won gets 1 point for showing up and 4 points for beating the other 4 teams, second gets 3 points, etc.

 1. 5 points
 2. 4 points
 3. 3 points
 4. 2 points
 5. 1 point

Trivia teams are encouraged to challenge rulings, and we always like hearing from you guys on things we could be doing better. Let us know if you have any fun suggestions that you think could make Trivia more exciting. You're also welcome to request songs at the end of the night, when Trivia is over and we're playing music while we hang out. We are very open to ideas, and our goal is for you to have the most fun!
