Spring League Trivia 1/20

Round: Winter Break
So I enjoyed winter break, even if it was a bit shorter than you alls. I was only back in st. louis for six days. More than enough.
One thing I did was make my cousins come up with a list of predictions on the future. I think it’s fun to come up with ridiculous predictions. A lot like horoscopes, which is based on when you are born. What is the most common birthday?
September 16 (September- Earth, Wind &Fire)
Another thing I did was hang out with my little brother a lot. I think my little brother is super cool. He’s really into fancy coffee stuff, and thinks hes way better at coffee than everyone else. There are only two states in the US that grow coffee. Name me either.
Puerto Rico, Hawaii (Kryptonite- 3 Doors Down)
I drove for the first time in a year, which is always scary. Since I don’t drive here, the only place I drive is in Missouri, which the driver's license is no longer federally recognized as a form of identification. Which other state has non federally recognized licenses?
Illinois, New Mexico, Minnesota (Do I wanna Know?- Arctic Monkeys)
I also had to go on like five doctors appointments. I just stacked them all up and had one long day. I’m ok though, not dying any faster than anybody else. What does the Rx mean on prescriptions?
Take (from latin recipe) (Take on Me- A-ha)
I also went to a party with my weird high school friends. I have changed a LOT since then, which is really for the better. My friends in high school played a lot of Super Smash Bros Brawl and nothing has changed. Please name me five characters you can play as in Super Smash Bros.
Peach (Peaches- President of the United States)
Mario (Let Me Love You- Mario)
Pit(Time of Our Lives- Pitbull)
Wolf (The Wolf- Mumford and Sons)
Solid Snake (Lean on- Mo, Dj Snake)

Round:  Getting to know Daniel
I am a Chicago kid, born and raised, and I think it’s the best city in the world, but that’s just me.  One of the common reactions when I say I’m from Chicago is people ask me how cold it is because of all the wind and the answer is not that cold.  Chicago is not the windiest city in the United States.  What is the windiest city?
Jackson, Mississippi (Jackson - Johnny Cash)
Another thing to know about me is that I like bicycles, I think they’re about the best form of transportation ever.  I’ve always wanted to try riding those bikes with the big wheel in the front and the little wheel in the back, they look like much more exciting than the bicycles we have today.  What are those bikes called?
Penny-Farthing, also high wheel, high wheeler, or variant (Penny Lane - The Beatles)
I would not consider myself a fan of math, but I am a math major so I’m required to at least tolerate it.  It isn’t the most popular major in the world, you would be surprised how many people will flat out tell you they hate your major.  What is the most popular major in the US?
Business Administration & Management (Takin Care of Business - Bachman-Turner Overdrive)
I also have a peanut allergy which isn’t any fun.  I actually went to the hospital over break because of reaction, which hasn’t happened before.  Peanut allergies are the most common type of allergy in the United States, what is the second most common type of food allergy?
Milk (Milkshake - Kelis)
I wrote my college essay about Calvin and Hobbes, the comic strip not the philosophers.  It is one of my favorite comic strips and has a remarkably small cast of characters.  What are five of the named characters in that strip?
Calvin (How Deep is Your Love - Calvin Harris)
Hobbes (Hobby - Chief Keef)
Moe (Mo Money Mo Problems - Notorious BIG)
Susie (Peggy Sue - Buddy Holly ?)
Rosalyn (Rosalyn - David Bowie)
(Also, Miss Wormwood, Principle Spittle, Coach Lockjaw)

Round: Wedding Bells
I took a weekend after winter break to go to my cousin’s wedding, which was quite an interesting affair. I don’t know if you all have been to a lot of weddings in Southern Missouri, but they are a bit different than weddings up here.
First off, it was a dry wedding. So we had to smuggle alcohol in, like the classy person I am. What is the top selling liquor in the US?
Smirnoff (Turn it Off- Paramore)
Another weird thing was that this wedding took place in my grandparents lion’s club building. So there were pictures of my grandpa everywhere. And lots of stuff about bingo. What was bingo originally called?
Beano (pork and Beans- Weezer)
I also got a stick that the bride and I whittled as kids and promised we would never get married. I apparently am supposed to bring it to the clubs and use it to hit people who hit on me. What is the average marriage age for women?
27 (Twenty Seven- Ms Mr)
I declined catching the bouquet, partly on my quest to tell my mom and her boyfriend that they have to be the next ones married. Also, what was I gonna do with a bouquet? What is the most popular wedding flower?
Rose (Roses- Chainsmokers)
There was some dancing, though I was the most enthusiastic, which probably isn’t a great sign. What are the top five all time songs, according to the Billboard charts? This is a factor of duration and place.
The Twist (Twist and Shout- The Beatles)
Smooth (Smooth Criminal- Micheal Jackson)
Mack the Knife (Internet Friends- Knife Party)
How Do I Live (Live Your Life- Rihanna)
Party Rock Anthem  (party in the USA- Miley Cyrus)

Round: All the sports we have been missing
I don’t know about you guys but I think that Chris and Bess have been significantly slacking on the sports trivia, and I intend to change that.  I am personally a pretty big sports fan and I will watch just about anything.  My personal favorite sport is hockey and since I’m in Massachusetts I end up watching a lot of Bruins games.  What is a Bruin?
A Bear (One Week - Barenaked Ladies)
The most recent game I watch was between the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers when the Cavs got absolutely blown out.  Cleveland actually has a pretty poor track record when it comes to sports with a combined 156 year championship drought.  The last time a team from Cleveland won was in 1964, what was the team?
The Cleveland Browns (Brown Sugar - The Rolling Stones)
The longest championship drought in American professional sports goes to my very own Chicago Cubs, who have not won the World Series in 107 years, no big deal.  Despite all this losing the Cubs have actually had some good seasons in there. They hold the record for the best season in the history of Major League Baseball, so what if it was back in 1906!  Who was the President of the United States during the Cubs historic season?
Theodore Roosevelt (Montreal- Roosevelt)
What team has the most wins in professional sports?
Giants (Young the Giant- My Body)
What are the five most valuable sports teams in the world, according to Forbes?
Real Madrid (Real Slim Shady - Eminem)
Dallas Cowboys (Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy) Big & Rich)
New York Yankees (New York - Ja Rule, Fat Joe, Jadakis)
Barcelona (Barcelona-George Ezra ?)
Manchester United (Man - Neko Case)
